Today it’s all about Lily Berger’s and Elisabeth Schmidt’s Berlin! The young fashion designers started their label BERGNERSCHMIDT when they finished their studies in 2009. Since then, they’re designing and producing handmade jewellery made out of concrete.
Their design is inspired by Bauhaus and the principle ‚less is more‘. Having said that, BERGNERSCHMIDT developed experimental but at the same time very wearable accessories made out of concrete. Their pieces combine purist and constructive expression with subtle femininity.
1. When and why did you come to Berlin?
We acutally grew up here and in Potsdam.
2. How do you think Berlin is going to change within the next 10 years?
Hopefully Berlin will not change in terms of its complexity - only grow through it.
We're pretty sure that Berlin will become even more international and we really hope that the city will never be so poor that it has to sell all its beautiful free spaces to real estate industry. Instead it should rather focus on obtaining and fostering its 'Kieze' in order to preserve the little oasises within the city.
3. Your favorite Berlin designer/shop?
Favorite designer: Esther Perbandt and her beautiful shop in Almstadtstrasse!
Favorite shop: Ting & Soeur
